Many doomsdayers and apocalypse prophesiers back themselves as proficient survivalists, but of course they're not.
Put away your tactical gear and cans of expired beans and learn to live sustainably off the land.
Here are 11 products and tools doomsdayers consistently waste their money on.

1. Fancy Tactical Gear
Your riot shield, ghillie suit, and heavy combat equipment are more likely to slow you down than help you in a real life, solo combat situation. -
2. Gasoline
Gasoline on its own goes bad in about a month. Unless you’re spending time treating it, there’s no point in having reserves. -
3. Gas Masks
Without a large supply of filters, your gas mask will eventually be rendered useless. -
4. Massive Trucks
Do you know what is important for remote vehicles? Fuel economy and reliability. Your lifted Ford Raptor has neither of those things. You’d be better off with a Corolla. -
5. Nigh Vision Goggles
Those goggles might be really fun to play with, but they’re not often long lasting. Good luck finding someone who knows how to fix your complex and delicate night vision goggles during the apocalypse. -

Many survival foods, especially cheaper brands, expire much more quickly than you might think. They can also attract rodents and insects. -
7. A Medical Kit, Without Medical Training
Let’s be honest, how many doomsdayers are actually taking medical classes? (They’re not exactly the most scientific bunch.) In practice, the fanciest medical kit is useless unless you know what to do with it. -

Not all MREs are created equal and many lack the nutritional value you need. -

If you want self-sustaining power, you can't cheap out here. The real deal might cost more than the odds you need it. -

If you REALLY think you need one of these for your electronics, ok. But you don’t need cages for everything. -
11. A Complex Water Filtration System
Unless you’re building a housing complex with help, a simple portable filter is easier to maintain and use than a massive system.
